AbbVie reported fiscal year 2019 executive compensation information on March 23, 2020.
In 2019, five AbbVie executives received on average a compensation package of $14M, a 34% increase compared to previous year.
Richard A. Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer, received $22M in total, which increased by 2% compared to 2018. 41% of Gonzalez's compensation, or $8.9M, was in stock awards. Gonzalez also received $3.4M of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $4.3M in non-equity incentive plan, $2.2M in option awards, $1.7M in salary, as well as $1.1M in other compensation.
For fiscal year 2019, the median employee pay was $155,885 at AbbVie. Therefore, the ratio of Richard A. Gonzalez's pay to the median employee pay was 139 to one.
Laura J. Schumacher, Chief Legal Officer, received a compensation package of $15M, which increased by 33% compared to previous year. 43% of the compensation package, or $6.6M, was of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings.
Carlos Alban, Chairman, earned $14M in 2019, a 60% increase compared to previous year.
