Alleghany reported fiscal year 2008 executive compensation information on March 17, 2009.
In 2008, seven Alleghany executives received on average a compensation package of $2.1M, a 40% decrease compared to previous year.
Weston M. Hicks, Chief Executive Officer, received $5.9M in total, which decreased by 33% compared to 2007. 31% of Hicks' compensation, or $1.8M, was in stock awards. Hicks also received $1.3M in bonus, $1.6M of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $1M in salary, as well as $196K in other compensation.

Roger B. Gorham, Chief Financial Officer, earned $2M in 2008, a 15% decrease compared to previous year.
James P. Slattery, Senior Vice President Insurance, received $962K in 2008, which decreases by 60% compared to 2007.
Jerry G. Borrelli, Vice President and CAO, earned $943K in 2008, a 9% increase compared to previous year.
Law Jerry G. Borrelli, Vice President and CAO, received $914K in 2008.
Christopher K. Dalrymple, General Counsel, earned $826K in 2008.
