Arch Coal reported fiscal year 2007 executive compensation information on March 20, 2008.
In 2007, eight Arch Coal executives received on average a compensation package of $1.7M, a 20% decrease compared to previous year.
Steven F. Leer, Chief Executive Officer, received $4.3M in total, which decreased by 24% compared to 2006. 44% of Leer's compensation, or $1.9M, was in option awards. Paul A. Lang, Senior Vice President — Operations, received $1.5M in 2007, which increases by 17% compared to 2006.
Robert J. Messey, Chief Financial Officer, earned $1.4M in 2007, a 45% decrease compared to previous year.
Robert G. Jones, General Counsel, received $1.1M in 2007, which decreases by 28% compared to 2006.
C. Henry Besten, Jr, Senior Vice President Strategic Development, earned $1.1M in 2007, a 26% decrease compared to previous year.
John T. Drexler, Chief Financial Officer, received $454K in 2007, which increases by 47% compared to 2006.
