Arch Coal reported fiscal year 2009 executive compensation information on March 18, 2011.
In 2009, five Arch Coal executives received on average a compensation package of $1.9M, a 52% decrease compared to previous year.
Steven F. Leer, Chief Executive Officer, received $3.5M in total, which decreased by 65% compared to 2008. 38% of Leer's compensation, or $1.4M, was in option awards. Leer also received $561K of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $625K in non-equity incentive plan, $850K in salary, as well as $147K in other compensation.
John W. Eaves, Chief Operating Officer, received a compensation package of $2M, which decreased by 68% compared to previous year. 43% of the compensation package, or $863K, was in option awards.
Paul A. Lang, Senior Vice President — Operations, earned $1.7M in 2009, a 25% decrease compared to previous year.
David N. Warnecke, Senior Vice President Marketing and Trading, received $1.2M in 2009, which decreases by 56% compared to 2008.
John T. Drexler, Chief Financial Officer, earned $1M in 2009, a 37% decrease compared to previous year.
