Costco reported fiscal year 2019 executive compensation information on December 10, 2020.
In 2019, six Costco executives received on average a compensation package of $4.8M, a 4% increase compared to previous year.
W. Craig Jelinek, Chief Executive Officer, received $8M in total, which increased by 8% compared to 2018. 83% of Jelinek's compensation, or $6.7M, was in stock awards. Jelinek also received $190K in bonus, $159K of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $934K in salary, as well as $63K in other compensation.
For fiscal year 2019, the median employee pay was $47,312 at Costco. Therefore, the ratio of W. Craig Jelinek's pay to the median employee pay was 169 to one.
Richard A. Galanti, Chief Financial Officer, received a compensation package of $4.4M, which increased by 4% compared to previous year. 71% of the compensation package, or $3.2M, was in stock awards.
Joseph P. Portera, Chief Operating Officer, earned $4.1M in 2019, a 1% increase compared to previous year.
Paul G. Moulton, Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer, received $4.1M in 2019, which increases by 2% compared to 2018.
James P. Murphy, Chief Operating Officer, earned $4M in 2019, a 1% increase compared to previous year.
Ron M. Vachris, Chief Operating Officer, received $4M in 2019, which increases by 3% compared to 2018.
Costco's fiscal year ends on September 1.
