Kroger reported fiscal year 2018 executive compensation information on May 12, 2020.
In 2018, six Kroger executives received on average a compensation package of $6M, a 6% increase compared to previous year.
W. Rodney McMullen, Chief Executive Officer, received $12M in total, which increased by 4% compared to 2017. 42% of McMullen's compensation, or $5M, was in stock awards. McMullen also received $336K of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $2.7M in non-equity incentive plan, $2.4M in option awards, $1.3M in salary, as well as $329K in other compensation.
For fiscal year 2018, the median employee pay was $24,912 at Kroger. Therefore, the ratio of W. Rodney McMullen's pay to the median employee pay was 483 to one.
J. Michael Schlotman, Chief Financial Officer, received a compensation package of $5.8M, which increased by 10% compared to previous year. 41% of the compensation package, or $2.4M, was in stock awards.
Michael J. Donnelly, Chief Operating Officer, earned $5.7M in 2018, a 8% increase compared to previous year.
Robert Clark, Senior Vice President, received $4.8M in 2018.
Christopher T. Hjelm, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, earned $4.5M in 2018, a 34% increase compared to previous year.
Stuart W. Aitken, Senior Vice President, Alternative Business, received $2.9M in 2018, which increases by 16% compared to 2017.
Kroger's fiscal year ends on January 30.
