Kroger reported fiscal year 2020 executive compensation information on May 13, 2021.
In 2020, five Kroger executives received on average a compensation package of $10M, a 15% increase compared to previous year.
W. Rodney McMullen, Chief Executive Officer, received $22M in total, which increased by 6% compared to 2019. 49% of McMullen's compensation, or $11M, was in stock awards. McMullen also received $769K in bonus, $1.8M of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $4.9M in non-equity incentive plan, $2.1M in option awards, $1.3M in salary, as well as $577K in other compensation.
For fiscal year 2020, the median employee pay was $24,617 at Kroger. Therefore, the ratio of W. Rodney McMullen's pay to the median employee pay was 909 to one.
Michael J. Donnelly, Chief Operating Officer, received a compensation package of $10M, which decreased by 2% compared to previous year. 42% of the compensation package, or $4.2M, was in stock awards.
Stuart W. Aitken, Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Marketing Officer, earned $6.5M in 2020, a 41% increase compared to previous year.
Yael Cosset, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, received $6M in 2020, which increases by 65% compared to 2019.
Gary Millerchip, Chief Financial Officer, earned $5.2M in 2020, a 25% increase compared to previous year.
Kroger's fiscal year ends on January 30.
