Symantec CEO John Thompson's 2008 pay rises 18% to $5.6M

Symantec reported fiscal year 2008 executive compensation information on July 28, 2008.
In 2008, seven Symantec executives received on average a compensation package of $3.9M, a 9% increase compared to previous year.
John W. Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, received $5.6M in total, which increased by 18% compared to 2007. 61% of Thompson's compensation, or $3.4M, was in option awards. Thompson also received $1.2M in non-equity incentive plan, $800K in salary, as well as $274K in other compensation.
Enrique Salem, Chief Executive Officer, received a compensation package of $4.3M. 35% of the compensation package, or $1.5M, was in stock awards.
James A. Beer, Chief Financial Officer, earned $3.6M in 2008, a 54% increase compared to previous year.
Thomas W. Kendra, Group President, received $3.6M in 2008, which decreases by 15% compared to 2007.
Gregory S. Butterfield, Group President, earned $3.5M in 2008.
Janice D. Chaffin, Group President, received $3.4M in 2008, which increases by 16% compared to 2007.
Gregory W. Hughes, Group President, earned $3.3M in 2008.
Symantec's fiscal year ends on April 1.
