Symantec CEO John Thompson's 2009 pay jumps 25% to $7M

Symantec reported fiscal year 2009 executive compensation information on July 31, 2009.
In 2009, five Symantec executives received on average a compensation package of $3.6M, a 7% decrease compared to previous year.
John W. Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, received $7M in total, which increased by 25% compared to 2008. 43% of Thompson's compensation, or $3M, was in option awards. Thompson also received $2.4M in non-equity incentive plan, $800K in salary, $676K in stock awards, as well as $82K in other compensation.
Enrique Salem, Chief Executive Officer, received a compensation package of $4.2M, which decreased by 4% compared to previous year. 31% of the compensation package, or $1.3M, was in option awards.
James A. Beer, Chief Financial Officer, earned $2.7M in 2009, a 25% decrease compared to previous year.
Gregory W. Hughes, Group President, received $2.3M in 2009, which decreases by 32% compared to 2008.
J. David Thompson, Group President, earned $2.1M in 2009.
Symantec's fiscal year ends on April 1.
