Universal reported fiscal year 2018 executive compensation information on June 25, 2018.
In 2018, five Universal executives received on average a compensation package of $2M, a 7% decrease compared to previous year.
George C. Freeman, III, Chief Executive Officer, received $3.7M in total, which decreased by 7% compared to 2017. 44% of Freeman's compensation, or $1.6M, was in stock awards. Freeman also received $167K of change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, $995K in non-equity incentive plan, $900K in salary, as well as $20K in other compensation.
Airton L. Hentschke, Chief Operating Officer, received a compensation package of $2M, which decreased by 6% compared to previous year. 39% of the compensation package, or $770K, was in stock awards.
David C. Moore, Chief Financial Officer, earned $1.8M in 2018, a 7% decrease compared to previous year.
Theodore G. Broome, Executive Vice President and Sales Director Universal Leaf Tobacco Co., Inc, received $1.2M in 2018, which decreases by 3% compared to 2017.
Preston D. Wigner, General Counsel, earned $1.1M in 2018, a 8% decrease compared to previous year.
Universal's fiscal year ends on March 31.
